Tennis equipment has been around since the creation of the sport. Tennis equipment incorporates many different types of gear that specializes in different uses. There's the major gear that everyone is used to seeing such as the tennis racquet, tennis ball, and tennis net. There's also tennis equipment that is less noticeable, but just as useful for the enjoyment of the sport.

One useful piece of tennis equipment is a tennis ball holder. A tennis ball holder has a very simple and rather obvious purpose: to hold tennis balls. This type of tennis equipment is usually available in three different forms: tennis ball clip, hi-rise ball holder, and undergarments with tennis ball pockets.

A tennis ball clip is designed to clip to an individual's body, usually on the shorts or pants. A benefit for this type of  holder is that it provides easy access. A negative is that a tennis ball clip only has the ability to hold one ball. The price range for type of tennis equipment is between $2-$4.

A hi- rise ball holder is the type of  holder that is most seen on TV tennis matches. It is a caged bucket that is raised for easy access. Although it  has the ability to hold a lot of tennis balls at once, it doesn't provide easy access. The price range for this type of  tennis equipment is between $25-$40.

Undergarments with tennis ball pockets are a type of  tennis ball holder that is not usually seen because it is located under a player's clothes. This type of holder basically consists of a pair of lycra shorts that have pockets to hold tennis balls. Undergarments with tennis ball pockets provide easy access and can hold 1-2 tennis balls, but can be uncomfortable when playing tennis.

A tennis court post is another necessary type of tennis equipment. Unlike the tennis ball holder, the tennis court post is not something that a singular tennis player needs to purchase. Rather, it's something that people who are setting up a tennis court would buy. A tennis court post can come in many different materials including metal, aluminum, and a variety of  woods. These posts are used to hold up the tennis net and are very necessary for playing the game. A tennis court post usually comes in pairs and can be purchased online at sites like Bizrate.com and Amazon.com. This type of tennis equipment costs between $500-$1,000.

Another essential piece of tennis equipment is tennis grip tape. This type of tennis equipment  wraps around the handle of a tennis racquet and provides better traction for the tennis player. The tape comes in many different colors and a few different materials. Everything from gauze to masking tape  is used for this type of tennis equipment. Tennis grip tape can be purchased online at Amazon.com and Tennisexpress.com for between $2-$4.

Around the time of the U.S. Open, people usually get really into tennis and want to pick up the sport. Just remember to learn and understand the proper techniques or usage of different types of tennis equipment before attempting to use them. Other than that, get out and have fun!
